Drink Drive Warning following late World Cup matches

The region’s three big football clubs namely Newcastle United, Sunderland AFC and Middlesbrough, have joined forces with Road Safety GB North East in urging people to stay safe during the tournament in Brazil when they watch the games over a few drinks and to warn of the consequences of drink driving and the possibility of still being over the legal limit the morning after the night before.

Serious Speeding Offences on the Increase

In line with the recent proposal to increase the fines imposed by courts for offences, the number of drivers summoned to court for speeding increased by 10% in 2012 – meaning more drivers are committing the most serious speeding offences resulting in an appearance at court. This has lead to many to question whether the increase is designed to simply generate more money from the unsuspecting speeding driver.

World Cup 2014 – Domestic Violence Campain launched by Northumbria Police

From early June to mid July 2014 the Home office are running a poster and online advertising campaign to communicate the consequences of domestic violence to men aged 18 to 35.

Posters will be displayed in male toilets in England and online adverts will be shown around football content during the World Cup 2014 competition.
